Ossifying fibroma of the maxilla and tuberous sclerosis complex.

چکیده
A 19-year-old man with refractory generalized epilepsy related to tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) (figure 1) complained of chronic left facial swelling. Physical examination disclosed typical mucocutaneous findings of TSC (hypomelanotic macules, shagreen patch, ungual fibromas, facial angiofibromas) and a hardened well-limited mass in his left maxilla, evidenced as an odontogenic extensive left maxillary mass (figure 2). Histopathologic study was compatible with an ossifying fibroma. TSC is a major neurocutaneous syndrome frequently associated with gingival hyperplasia or fibromas. Ossifying maxillary fibroma is an extremely rare finding associated with TSC.

متن کاملA Rare Case of Juvenile Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma: Diagonosed by Cytological and Radiological Correlation
Cemeto-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a benign fibro-osseous lesion of the mandible and maxilla. The World Health Organization (WHO) introduced the term “cementoossifying fibroma” by combining two entities, cementifying fibroma and ossifying fibroma in 1992. However in 2005 the entity was included under ossifying fibroma group. The tumor usually affects the young adults. Rarely, this tumor arises i...

Even after two operations to reduce the bulk of the mass, it continued to increase in size. Dyspnea caused by stenosis of the nasal cavity forced us to perform eutha...
